Of all our cafe expeditions and travels for food, Penang still firmly holds the #1 spot for us. Certain local fares like Asam Laksa may take an acquired taste to appreciate them, but out of all our efforts to bring our foreign friends for Cuti-cuti Penang, most of them enjoyed food here. With all the RM3 hokkien mee and wanton mee around, it is crucial to stay competitive in terms of pricing.
Yella Fork Cafe recently opened at Jalan Chow Thye, along with some new eateries which we featured previously (Basement Six). Don’t worry we will not bore you with yet another cafe that serves regular eggs ben or breakfast platters. It is a cafe that serves fusion-Australian dishes to offer you a little something that is slightly different from the usual brunches which most cafes are already serving anyway. Another catch which appeals to our thrifty Penangite side being the pricing of the dishes set on the lower end, which is bound to attract a good number of patrons looking for affordable good food.

We stopped by Weissbrau German Bistro & Bar for lunch before we do our shopping for Christmas along the quay. Situated at the North side with comfortable couches outside the restaurant overseeing the Quay side. For air-conditioned area, some might prefer to be seated inside with the unique wooden interior and the open bar concept. The restaurants serves a wide variety of German cuisine and delicious thin-crusted pizzas with a choice of different sides. They also have large platters to cater for big eaters / sharing between three to four people. What better combination to complete the meal with a pint of Hoegaarden or their imported draught of your choice. Not forgetting the most important point, it is definitely worth the value that we paid for the huge portion.

If you are looking for a homemade and delicious salmon steak, Ceylone House should be the place to be. So it was thru Groupon that we first heard about this place. Located at Lorong Ceylone, a road away from Secawan ‘n’ such and New World Park away from the busy roads in Georgetown city. Maintaining the classic traditional wooden windows and door reminded me of the olden generation houses back in the 80s’. Glide thru the walls with a coat of white paint and decorated flowers, the refurbished cafe looks brand new and homey. With the soothing sound of the radio FM playing while dining has definitely made us ponder on how things have slowly transform from the 80s’ to 90s. The new era of technology replacing the old and etc. Nevertheless, we both enjoyed our quiet time here.
