The Daily Dose Cafe is part of my short listed must visit cafe since the past few months. But with the endless pile of work coming my way, it has definitely delay my trip to this cafe. We decided to have brunch in the cafe for a change instead. The cafe is situated along the narrow Steward Lane, walking distance to the Cafe Atelier and the Goddess of MercyTemple. The ambience of the cafe is lovely with a fish pond located in the middle of walkway. Decorated with pictures of wars and fights. Be warn! It could be rather disturbing after observing the picture further. Back to their menu, there were limited choices for main dishes.
Chow Thye Road has been busier than usual this year. One of the restaurant that caught my eye as we drove pass was the tastefully designed restaurant Basement 6. A restaurant that serves breakfast (8am – 11am only), lunch starts (12 noon till last call at 3pm) and dinner (6pm to 10pm).
We were sceptical initially, suspecting it to be one of those “nice to see only” cafes mushrooming in Penang. The patio area was designed to give the visitors a garden in the city ambience. We loved the little pots of plants accenting each table. For those who are already imagining the sweltering heat of the outdoors, fear not as the ceiling walls are raised high and abundant fans air the space. Diners can choose the indoor restaurant for the air-conditioned spot. We took the outdoor spot for the breezy wind and natural daylight while munching our breakfast. We had a heartily breakfast and diners can opt for their affordable lunch set / menu if one opt to laze on their bed on the weekends
Looking for homemade cupcakes, macarons, sweet delicacies or brunch, La Vanille is where you should be. The cafe is located at Hutton Lane, walking distance from Secawan ‘n’ such and New World Park food court. Look for the turquoise rabbit or shop if you are having trouble looking for the shop. The coziness of the cafe was build up by the owner with a mixture of inspired culture and lifestyle thru her experiences travelling around the world. The delectable macarons from Paris was the main inspiration for her to start up La Vanille. The interior was build up with wooden furnitures and decoratives. Every single corner was specially design with its own taste and feeling. A great place for gatherings and catch up sessions.
Secawan ‘n’ such On Hutton is within walking distance from New World Park and just a few shops away from the famous House of Udang Galah situated along Hutton Lane. It primarily serves breakfast foods like pancakes, french toast and eggs benedict, not forgetting several pasta dishes which is almost a must for most cafe spots nowadays. Also, its refrigerated glass display by the cashier keeps all its cakes and desserts chilled and ready to be served in this hot Penang weather. We truly enjoyed the comfortable and cozy cafe setting in Secawan, not forgetting its thoughtful interior that leaves just enough space between tables for private conversations.
