My Voice Cafe & Studio @ Krystal Point, Bayan Lepas, Penang

My Voice Cafe & Studio is located at Krystal Point (previously Elmondo), this being their 2nd branch in Bayan Lepas. Their first branch is located at Bay Avenue (beside Queensbay Mall and Eastin Hotel). Following their expansion, their third branch is opening soon at THE CEO building (opposite Kayu Restaurant) where it will be PORK FREE to cater for my HALAL folks. ;)

The interior of the cafe follows a very clean, white and minimalist layout. There was a grand piano in the store, but we did not have the opportunity to hear any performances. Overall, we were satisfied with the fast service in taking orders and serving of food.

The main highlight of the cafe is their BIG BOWL RAMEN (RM 35 for 2 person, RM49 for 3 person, RM62 for 4 person and RM72 for 5 person)

Kizuna Japanese Restaurant @ Bay Avenue, Bayan Lepas, Penang

Scouting for somewhere new to eat near FTZ area? It was through the word of mouth from a few friends recommending this place that both me and Chase decided to check it out. According to them, Kare is a MUST TRY if you are a Kare lover. We also did some reviews research online to check out their menu, unfortunately for us, they were not serving sushi when we visited. (which they proclaim it to be a MUST TRY too) Since it was our first visit, we would opt for recommended choices at the safe side.

绊 Kizuna, is a Japanese word meaning “bond”. They started their operation in the beginning of 2013 locating at Bay Avenue, Bayan Lepas (Beside Eastin Hotel Penang). With a basic concept of casual dining restaurant focusing on quality and a unique mix of traditional and modern Japanese dining. The cozy ambience and dim lighting has made it more comfortable for the customers to sink into the chatty and homey mood right away. Because the place is small in size, the noise would be in a controlled manner.

Okomen Japanese Restaurant @ Queensbay Mall, Bayan Lepas, Penang

Okonomi means ‘what you want’ or ‘what toy like’ while Yaki means grilled or cooked. Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savoury pancake. Okonomiyaki is widely available throughout Kansai or Hiroshima areas of Japan savour it differently. It was first invented in WW2. Okonomiyaki is prepared much like a pancake. The batter made from flour, grated nagaimo, eggs, shredded cabbages, slices of onions and pork mixed alll together and fried on both sides on a hot plate/pan using a metal spatula. The spatula is later used to slice the dish when it has finished cooking. Usually savour together with the okonomiyaki sauce and dashi/aonori/katsuobushi flakes.

Okomen Japanese Restaurant, is the new restaurant in Queensbay Mall. Unlike other Japanese restaurants, they specialize in okonomiyaki and ramen instead of sushi and sashimi. It has been a long wait for Penang folks for the opening of both Okomen and Sushi Tei situated at the north zone inside the mall.
