Hopping from one cafe to another had became a trend in Penang. Not sure which to choose? You would probably want to add Black Kettle to your list. Located along Beach Street, parallel to Chulia Street serving a variety of English style bread loaves and a list of brunch items to choose for dine in. Highly recommended is their freshly baked croissants and bread loaves. We are lucky to be able to catch the head chef in action carrying tray after tray of freshly made loaves hot out of the oven. Tempting us to grab a loaf of their poppy seed flavour home with us.
Unlike other cafes, Black Kettle is spacious and elegantly design. The interior is design different in every section, there is a corner with greens and natural sunlight and the cozy couch with white arch design. The bakery and order counter is located at the front of shop, where the customers are given an ample of space to have their on private conversation comfortably.
Siam Road Char Koay Teow stall already has its name on its own. It was our first attempt eventhough i’m a Penangite. For those not familiar to Penang, is near Anson Road and located next to Stacks Burger previously (they too have moved, click to find out their latest location). It is really hard to find a parking spot, and Siam Road Char Koay Teow lies at the corner of the junction on Siam Road. Thankfully despite rain or shine, the shop opposite the stall is open for dine-in, those are where all the hidden queue is located. I was conned thinking after the 4 people in front of me, it would be my turn!. Another reason to stop by, they don’t crazily hike up the price for a plate of Char Koay Teow. For small size, they charge RM4 and big size, RM5.50. Good things don’t come by easy, so sit back, relax and wait patiently for your koay teow to come!
HotStar Fried Chicken is new addition to the chain of restaurants at Queen Street, North Zone in Queensbay Mall. Similar to Shihlin Taiwanese Snacks, they sell humongous fried chicken breast meat sprinkled with some chilli powder on top, depending on your preference for its spiciness.
They do not offer cutting of the whole chicken breast meat into several pieces, so we ended up chewing the entire piece of chicken from the paper bag given. Reason being, the juiciness of the chicken will no longer be there if we intend to cut the chicken into pieces. They have different level of spiciness. ( Low – Medium – Hot – Extra Hot ).
It was the Merdeka weekend when we visited Morganfields. It was the second day of their opening in Queensbay Mall. Known for their Sticky Bones, Hickory Wood-Smoked Ribs. A truly authentic, old fashioned prime pork rib slow-cooked and smoke in coal and hickory wood to a tender mouthwatering perfection, then basted with the gluey sweet and tangy hickory flavored bbq sauce with a hint of cider. Also, in their menu is their Garlic BBQ Spare Ribs and Smoked Black Pepper Spare Ribs flavor to choose. And if you don’t fancy ribs, their have a list of seafood and poultry in their menu.
To celebrate our long weekend, we ordered the ribs and foot long sausage in their menu.
