The Alley Cafe @ Stewart Lane, Georgetown, Penang

A post on NUTELLA heavens dedicating this to NUTELLA lovers

Recommended by my younger sister, a new hangout spot hidden next to the famous Goddess of Mercy Temple a.k.a Guan Yin Teng at Steward Lane. As they maintain the authentic and unique exterior, it is quite a challenge to find the place. Even the hidden shop name is not visible to many. Here’s a tip, try looking for Kedai Gaharu Keat Seang instead of the small tiny THE ALLEY name. Limited parking lots available, hence we would recommend that you park at Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling / Love Lane / Chulia Street or Lebuh China and walked over to the shop.

In their menu is their famous Churros, Cronuts and Cakes.

Sugar Honey Cafe @ Campbell Street, Georgetown, Penang

Given every opportunity (& the extra space in our stomachs to gobble down some dessert), we constantly look for new eateries in Penang to try out. Among all the new quaint cafes sprouting out, Sugar Honey is newly opened, next to its neighbour with slightly more recognition, Moustache Houze. Like many other cafes located in Georgetown, it has a similar concept as many others: a touch of edginess on top of some preservation of the old. Apart from the food and drinks, they also sell some crafty items in the shop; feel free to look around because there’s no harm to your wallets doing so!

As we approached the cake display, we were greeted by a friendly lady whom we assumed to be the very owner of Sugar Honey. She kindly offered some recommendation for cake orders and mentioned that their cakes are all homemade and fresh from the oven. Some of her recommendations include their tiramisu, which contains mascarpone with alcohol and hence has a light creamy texture on top of the richness of the coffee liquer. Unfortunately, their tiramisu can only be featured after our second visit to the cafe since it wasn’t part of our order.

What we can offer, however, is a slice of their Chendol Crepe Cake. We love how they have added a touch of localisation to the original mille crepe, instead of the usual mille crepe flavours you find.

Pinetree Cafe @ Jalan Sungai Dua, Gelugor, Penang

Pinetree Cafe newly open in Jalan Sungai Dua. Serving western and HALAL food catering for USM students. Both of us are friends with owner. Uncle have been in the eatery business for a very long time. Both he and his wife have the passion of cooking and exploring new businesses. They cater HALAL food for our fellow colleagues in the office cafeteria.

Hot in their menu is Ramen Burger set served with fries.

A “Ramen Burger” is a hamburger with a ramen noodle bun. The dish was created by Keizo Shimamoto and was served at Brooklyn’s Smorgasburg in August 2013. The burger also contains shoyu sauce, peppery arugula and scallions.“Ramen Burger” was trademarked on August 2, 2013.

Eversince, the hype about Ramen burger was spread worldwidely, Uncle took the challenge up and created the Pinetree style Ramen Burger!
