Basement Six @ Jalan Chow Thye, Georgetown, Penang

Chow Thye Road has been busier than usual this year. One of the restaurant that caught my eye as we drove pass was the tastefully designed restaurant Basement 6. A restaurant that serves breakfast (8am – 11am only), lunch starts (12 noon till last call at 3pm) and dinner (6pm to 10pm).

We were sceptical initially, suspecting it to be one of those “nice to see only” cafes mushrooming in Penang. The patio area was designed to give the visitors a garden in the city ambience. We loved the little pots of plants accenting each table. For those who are already imagining the sweltering heat of the outdoors, fear not as the ceiling walls are raised high and abundant fans air the space. Diners can choose the indoor restaurant for the air-conditioned spot. We took the outdoor spot for the breezy wind and natural daylight while munching our breakfast. We had a heartily breakfast and diners can opt for their affordable lunch set / menu if one opt to laze on their bed on the weekends :)

Uncle Albert Fish & Chips @ Straits Quay, Tanjung Tokong, Penang

Uncle Albert Fish & Chips is one of the newly opened restaurant in Straits Quay. Known for their secret battered recipe Traditional English Fish and Chips which remains only within the family to this day. Uncle Albert expanded all around England and Ireland, now they are here in Asia, Straits Quay, Penang. They were having their opening promotion when we visited. For lunch, they will first serve us homemade bread to be dip into their homemade soup with a complimentary homemade iced lemon tea. While for dinner, they exchange their homemade ice lemon tea with ice-cream.

They have very limited choice of main course for their set menu but the service is great and we didn’t have to wait very long for our meals. During the normal days, you can opt for their Halibut and Cod. It might be on a pricey side, however the quality of the food is worth the money. For every main course meal, they are also giving a complimentary irish brown bread, ice lemon tea and homemade soup ;)

US Pizza @ Lorong Delima 1, Greenlane, Penang

What first came to my mind when we first visited this place is US pizza is originated from US. Is only at one’s rightful mind that they will think that way. So I decided to google and do some research about the place :) The place is very well decorated with car plates from all around the States and New York Statue of Liberty. The colour and designs are so catchy that you tricked yourself in believing that you are actually eating your lunch somewhere in the States. :) *Slaps!!! Back to reality*. The background and table cloth is covered with hot spicy red colour with red lights to match :)

Another US Pizza restaurant pop out located at Gujarat,India instead of the one in Penang, Malaysia. Well be sure you check properly the right restaurant before placing your orders :) Else, someone else might get it :P. I also looked thru their menu, not the same too hence they are not franchise.

For any promotion, you can check out their FB page. I couldn’t find their official website. They also have their promotions display outside their shop. Be sure to check it out before ordering :)

Ficelle Boulangerie Patisserie @ Taman Danau Desa, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor

It was a long weekend, so we made a trip down to KL. We were supposed to cover Melaka’s famous Jonker Street as part of our agenda but due to some unforeseen circurmstances, we had to give it a pass for now.

Our disappointment did not last long as we went on a food hunt around KL instead; I would gladly say that it was a satisfying hunt indeed.

We went to Ficelle in Taman Danau Desa near Kuchai Lama for breakfast. It was my second time there and we ordered their breakfast set  which comes with a complimentary coffee/ tea.
