If you haven’t got your fill of yummies from the Plates, just take a walk to their dining area and bar, Inch Food Bar. Inch is a Southeast Asian bar and restaurant serving authentic Thai dishes in Tapas style while Plates serve a western brunch and snacks. Strategically located at Lebuh Muntri near the Georgetown heritage trails, Inch is perfect for a pint or two after a long tour around our beautiful town.
Located along the busy Macalister Road, lies the beautiful modern grey color building with striking yellow strips on their window. A unique choice of artistic paintings and a selection of vibrant colours pillows to match their furnitures. Interesting choice of hotel setup to capture the hearts of young couples, budget travellers and food hunters. Glow Penang was newly built in late 2013. Being part of the Zinc, a hospitality management company built to provide comfortable bedding, basic gym access, free WIFI access, self served breakfast to go and great showers and amenities. Strategically being at the heart of the Pearl Orient, win the heart of tourists visiting Penang. On top of that, a fair price for such convenience is definitely something worth bragging about. So, what’s around. One road away from Burma Road, drop by New World Park for their hawker delicacies (Char Koay Teow / Asam Laksa / Curry Mee and etc …), or drop by the famous Abu Siti Lane coconut drink to quench your thirst or the famous Chee Cheung Chuk ( in New Lane which is 200 metres down away). If you are less adventures, Zest Bar & Cafe, take the elevator down to Level 1, to try their thai and western selection in their lunch menu.
Check out what we think about their western food here : -
Chok Dee Thai located along the hussle and bussle of Burma road, a few shops away Green House Hokkien Mee and the famous Him Heang biscuit shop. Don’t be skeptical on the ordinary exterior and limited parking spots in front of their shop, the rectangular shape restaurant may look small but the place is decorated with beautiful painting and a touch of the Thai decorations. The place sets a very homey and relax feeling for their fellow customers. Chok Dee’s customers can opt to park by the road side on the inner lanes.
Paragon Mall, which is probably the most happening mall in Penang currently, was newly opened last weekend. We foresaw that most Penangites would be heading there to check out the new mall so we detoured to Gurney Plaza instead.
Along the Gurney alfresco dining area, there were some new restaurants which caught our eye and one of which was Black Canyon Coffee. For those of you unfamiliar with this restaurant, it is a Thai chain restaurant which has branches in various parts of Malaysia. They serve Thai cuisine and a relatively large selection of coffee for you coffee lovers.
They offer a few set meals according to the number of diners you have, as well as other a la carte options. Since there were 4 of us, we ordered Set E (RM49.90) for 4 pax. The price is affordable and portions were just nice.
