Chocolate Passion @ Gurney Paragon Mall, Georgetown, Penang

Chocolate passion

A place for your chocolate fix. Located at Gurney Paragon, level 6 overlooking the seafront of gurney. It is easily missed since it is not exactly located inside the mall, but you will be able to recognize restaurant from its tall glass windows which serves as the perfect medium of natural light for good photography.

Our first time there was in the evening and there weren’t many customers then. We visited Chocolate Passion again on a weekend and the place was quite packed this time round. We thought that this place is perfect to hang out with your friends on a chill afternoon/evening, that is if you don’t mind the noise level which can be on a high side at times, depending on your luck.

Once you enter the glass doors, you will be greeted by plates and plates of chocolate truffles and pralines. All you need to do is find a spot or empty table, place your orders at the counter and eagerly wait for your food to arrive.

Chocolate Bomb (RM18.50)

One of my favs, the chocolate ball is served with kiwis, strawberries and biscuit crumbs. We are each given a hot glass of chocolate to be poured on to the chocolate ball and slowly melts the surface of the ball giving you the ultimate finale of the dish. The vanilla ice-cream inside is still kept in good shape but it has to be eaten as soon as possible.

Passion’s Signature Pizza (Half) (RM14.00)

Out of curiousity, we ordered their Signature Pizza, topped with almond chunks, marshmallow, sliced bananas, and  peanuts. Drizzled with chocolate sauce and caramel. Overall, the pizza is an interesting mixed but it is too sweet for my liking and the pizza base should be served hot or crunchier for better taste. We thought that for the effort and materials used, this is more on the pricey side and we highly recommend their other dishes instead.

Blissful Brownie (RM9.50)

Simple slice of chocolate brownie, served with vanilla ice-cream. We love the rich texture and taste of the chocolate brownie with the chocolate drizzled on top. This is an extremely humble yet well executed dish, something we believe is lacking in so many dessert places. This is also extremely affordable as compared to so many other places that offer subpar desserts at a high price.

Avocado Chocolate Ice Blended (RM13.50)

As you can probably tell from the name, the drink is simply avocado, chocolate, ice and we suspect some honey as well. We expected a little more chocolate than what was offered for a chocolate place, but we were not disappointed since we love our avocados very much.

If you are looking for a romantic place to spend with your significant other, we reckon this place may not offer the right ambiance. Chocolate passion is regularly patronized by families with little chocolate monsters waiting to satisfy their sweet cravings. However, if you are looking for some decent chocolate desserts in Paragon, we highly encourage you to visit here :)
