It was the day after Valentine’s Day and Chase decided to give me another pleasant surprise by bringing me to a new place, Zest Bar Cafe. We didn’t know it was a hotel until we reach the place. The hotel is called Glow Penang. You can check out for their rates on the net. It is actually situated opposite Red Rock Hotel and strategic location for tourists. It is walking distance to Lorong Selamat Char Koay Teow, Abu Siti Lane Curry Mee and Fresh Coconuts, Marshall Burger and our lovely Komtar. Even along the way, you can stop by sisters Char Koay Teow, Bah Kut Teh, New Lane foodies and Lorong Susu Chicken Rice. Thinking about all the local delicacies makes me hungry…><“”. Good news for medium budget peeps, if you are visiting Penang, you may want to put them into your list of hotels to stay.
Okay.. diverted abit.. At that time, they were still serving their Valentine’s Day weekend menu.
After a long day at work, we decided to stay home and dine in for Valentine’s Day. We were too exhausted to prepare the food or jam our ways thru the hussle and bustle of the busy city. We were more focus about filling up our hungry stomach, that we decided to be all economical and call DeliverEat online. (1st ever delivery service in Penang). Quickly, we browse thru their long list of restaurant menu that caters western food. We stumble upon Secret Recipe, a taste that most of us are familiar to and trustworthy. Made our selection, select the location, made payment in a few clicks and soon were waiting for our food already. Delivery service was less than 1 hour! *thumbs up for delivereat + secret recipe + luna creperies*
Uncle Albert Fish & Chips is one of the newly opened restaurant in Straits Quay. Known for their secret battered recipe Traditional English Fish and Chips which remains only within the family to this day. Uncle Albert expanded all around England and Ireland, now they are here in Asia, Straits Quay, Penang. They were having their opening promotion when we visited. For lunch, they will first serve us homemade bread to be dip into their homemade soup with a complimentary homemade iced lemon tea. While for dinner, they exchange their homemade ice lemon tea with ice-cream.
They have very limited choice of main course for their set menu but the service is great and we didn’t have to wait very long for our meals. During the normal days, you can opt for their Halibut and Cod. It might be on a pricey side, however the quality of the food is worth the money. For every main course meal, they are also giving a complimentary irish brown bread, ice lemon tea and homemade soup
