Cafe 55 (Coffee Atelier) @ Steward Lane, Georgetown, Penang

Cafe 55 a.k.a Coffee Atelier is located in the heart of the historic Georgetown. It comprises a collection of five interlinked, beautifully-restored early 20th century shophouses and residence built in 1927, in Steward Lane. The name ‘Coffee Atelier’ derives from this element of the  building’s history, and celebrates the memory of this artisanal trade from a bygone era.

What first attracted us to visit was their 3D coffee latte made by their trained barista, but unfortunately he was on training when we visited.

Cafe55-01Cafe Latte with Biscotti (RM9.00)

Their latte is brewed very nicely with the pretty design. Taste wise, not bad.

Caramel Macchiato (RM12.00) / Caramello (RM13.00)

The iced caramel macchiato coffee is brewed very nicely. The caramello is an ice-blended chocolate coffee, slightly on the sweet side but overall taste is not bad.

Chocolate Chips (RM13.00)

Ice blended chocolate chip is very yummy. Abit sweet but for chocolate lovers is a must-try.

Gryphon, Pearl of the Orient (RM10.00)

The overall environment is very relaxing. A mixture of modern design and traditional concept. Good hang out spot and gathering. Only drawback is that the price of the coffee is at the high side and the service is not very good. The waitress actually forgotten one of our food order and they don’t have any desserts on sale when we visited.
